1st General Assembly DO-IT

Berlin, Germany

October 09, 2017 09:00 - October 10, 2017 - 00:00

To support the disease projects and ensure their quality and consistency, IMI (the Innovative Medicines Institute) has funded the Coordination and Support Action to promote 'Big Data for better Outcomes, policy Innovation and healthcare Transformation' – DO-IT.

Big Data for Better Outcomes is a comprehensive European research programme aiming to develop key enablers to support health care system transformation through the use of big data. The initiative will develop platforms for integrating and analysing diverse data sets, focusing on outcomes that matter to patients and generating meaningful insights that will help improve health care.

In a set of projects in exemplary disease areas, Big Data for Better Outcomes will contribute to health care system change through:

  • Definition of outcome metrics
  • Protocols, processes and tools to access high quality data
  • Methodologies and analytics to drive improvements
  • Digital and other solutions that increase patient engagement

BD4BO has three disease-specific projects so far. ROADMAP (Alzheimer’s Disease) and HARMONY (Hematologic Malignancies) are already producing deliverables to enable the efficient use of big data and contribute to improving healthcare systems and patient outcomes. BigData@Heart are currently holding their kick-off meeting and the consortium for the new Prostate Cancer project is in formation.

The Coordination and Support Action – DO->IT – has been up and running and supporting the work of BD4DO since February. We look forward to contributing to the success of the BD4BO programmes.

A 1st General Assembly is planned in Berlin at 9 and 10 October 2017. Click here to visite the BD4BO website.
