HARMONY responses to global health threat due to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic, a massive burden for healthcare systems, brings existing resources, clinical, and management workflows to the limits of capacity. To address these challenges, we need to accelerate coronavirus research promptly. One of the most unexplored scientific resources in this context is up-to-date, scalable, consolidated data.

The HARMONY Alliance intends to become a reliable contributor in international projects, aiming to help scientists to examine the characteristics of coronavirus. HARMONY, with its COVID-19 Data Platform, will play the vital role of the proficient data hub, facilitating the delivery of harmonized datasets, know-how, and expertise from our partners for projects launched or co-created by or with trusted European health institutions.

Along with the outbreak of the epidemic, HARMONY monitors the European initiatives that can have a substantial impact on coronavirus research. We are continually in touch with relevant public health organizations and European authorities. As a result of ongoing conversations, we have already initiated the preparations for the first projects regarding data analysis for scientific purposes. Today the demand for high-quality data is as vast as never before. Thanks to the engagement of our Partners/Associated Members and the new HARMONY COVID-19 Data Platform, we can make a significant change and support the investigation toward the features of the pandemic and virus, and potentially overpower this global threat we are facing.
